"Having been an avid fan of the Avro Lancaster for as long as I can remember, to actually get to fly in one of the only two airworthy examples in the world will forever be one of my 'day of days.' Even my sometime later flight in a Spitfire could not surpass it!

It only happenned at all thanks to the efforts of a good journalist friend of mine, and even then we had to fly to Canada only to find out there was no guarantee that it was actually going to happen. Ironically I had booked and paid for a flight some years earlier, indeed arranged our whole Canadian holiday around it and then it didn’t happen..so to get a flight from the navigator's seat and be able to peer out of the window at those mighty “merlins” burning and turning was orgasmic!"
